A one-year-old is in stable condition after a tree tore through a house in Boulder Creek.

BOULDER CREEK, CA (KION-TV) UPDATE JULY 22, 2023 2:43 PM— The Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire District said the one-year-old boy, who was pinned under a tree Tuesday night in Boulder Creek, would be fine.

The family told firefighters that the boy had been taken from the Dominican Hospital to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The boy is in stable condition and is expected to recover by Wednesday morning.

A one-year-old boy is in critical condition after a redwood tree speared through his family’s home, according to the Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire District.

Fire Chief Mark Bingham told KION that crews responded to reports of the incident around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday at 110 Bobcat Lane.

When firefighters arrived, they saw that a giant tree had broken through the house. From the rooftop to the living room, pinning the boy to the ground. The firemen used the jaws of life to help free him.

Fire Chief Bingham said it was a traumatic scene for both the family and the rescuers. Six people, including a one-year-old child, as well as two dogs, had to be evacuated from the damaged house.

Now the child is being treated at the Dominican Hospital.
