A man being escorted out of a restaurant hit a police officer on duty with his own weapon and was shot in the chest

The incident took place in Twin Peaks on SW Loop 410 shortly before midnight.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot in the chest by an on-duty police officer after, police said, he grabbed a police officer’s taser and used it on him as he was being escorted out of a restaurant.

The incident took place shortly before midnight at the Twin Peaks restaurant in the 100th block of SW Loop 410.

According to the police, there was some kind of disturbance in the restaurant and the staff asked the man to leave. When he refused to do so, management asked an off-duty Somerset police officer who worked as a security guard to forcibly remove the client from the premises.

Police said the officer escorted the man out of the restaurant when he began to resist, grabbed the police officer’s taser and used it on him.

The officer fired at him, hitting him once in the chest. The suspect was taken to the university hospital in critical condition.

The officer on duty was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No other details were given and no other casualties were reported.
