A 26-year-old migrant tried to commit suicide at a new shelter in New York

A migrant attempted suicide at the city’s new orphanage in Brooklyn on Tuesday, police said.

A 26-year-old man was found stabbed to himself at a newly opened shelter at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal around 2:15 p.m., police said.

According to sources, the man cut his right forearm with a razor in one of the toilets of the residential complex. He was brought to Lutheranism in a stable condition.

The cruise terminal’s mega shelter opened in late January and can accommodate up to 1,000 single adult male migrants.

Last week, human rights activists and migrants who were housed at the Watson Hotel in Manhattan protested the city’s decision to relocate single men to the Redhook Hotel to make room for migrant families with children.

Dozens of migrants camped outside the Hell’s Kitchen Hotel in protest for two nights after Adams’ announcement, with activists arguing that the new Brooklyn shelter would not provide single men with the same services they received.

Adams promised that the new facility would offer the same treatment as four other Big Apple humanitarian aid centers. But the migrants told The Post there was no privacy, as all the beds are packed together and the showers are outside the building.
