San Francisco Zoo announced the death of 20-year-old African lioness Sukari via Twitter on Thursday morning..
“Sukari, which means sugar in Swahili, was a stoic by nature,” the zoo said. “However, once you get to know her better, she will melt your heart.”
Her son Jasiri still lives at the zoo.
“Sukari loved horse shank, pork tenderloin and goat milk,” the zoo said. tweeted. “She loved to play soccer with her indestructible boomer balls, playing in the moated habitat area and hitting the walls with the balls.”
