Eight firefighters were injured, three of them seriously, after a fire broke out at a Staten Island private home on Friday and spread to a nearby building, triggering a fourth alarm and collapse, department officials said.
The FDNY says a fire was reported on Shotwell Avenue in Arden Heights around 1:30 p.m. The flames spread through a nearby door and a collapse was reported at the rear of the building as additional support was called.
Operations are ongoing.
No other details, including a possible cause or civilian casualties, were given.
More information is expected to be released later on Friday.
