The City of Austin and the Austin Police Association Reach Contract Agreement

Austin, Texas – After several months of negotiations, the city of Austin and the Austin Police Association entered into a four-year contract.
They scheduled a 9:30 a.m. press conference for the announcement, featuring City Manager Spencer Cronk, Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon, and Austin Police Association President Thomas Villarreal.
The city says the four-year contract “includes goals for creating a stable environment for Austin police officers, attractive recruitment and retention strategies, and a provision for progressive policing that is likely to become a model for Texas and the country.”

The agreement is subject to approval by the City Council.
