WEST PALM BEACH, Florida. A new bill could make continuous driving in the left lane illegal in Florida.
Florida Representative Jenna Persons-Mulica, R-Fort Myers, presented HB 421 earlier this month.
The proposed law would prohibit drivers from “driving at all times in the leftmost lane of some roads, except under certain circumstances.”

Such exceptions would include “when overtaking and overtaking another vehicle”.
The proposed law, which will take effect in 2024, will only apply on roads with a posted speed limit of at least 65 mph.
If it became law, offenders would be subject to moving violations.
