3 other dogs stolen from Detroit animal shelter found safe and sound

(WXYZ) — On Wednesday, thieves broke into a shelter in Detroit, stealing four dogs. One was found Wednesday afternoon. The last three were found early Thursday morning in an abandoned house.

The dogs were returned safely.

The volunteers spent the night searching for the remaining dogs when one of the dogs, Titus, barked loudly and led the volunteers straight to the house.

“They are my heart and soul. They are my children,” said Ashley Swistak.

The video from the surveillance camera recorded the hunt for the dog. The video shows the suspects checking documents and filming what is happening on video.

According to Judy Jones of Make a Difference Rescue, the suspects seemed to know what they were doing.

“It was strange. They went in, they kind of watched everything, like they were filming all the exits of all the dogs inside,” she said.

As of Thursday morning, the suspects had not been caught.
