2 rescued after being trapped at Montrose-area construction site, HFD says

HOUSTON – One person has been transported to the hospital after being trapped in a trench with another man at a construction site in the Montrose area Monday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Houston Fire Department responded to reports of a trench rescue at 1099 Bomar Street around 2:57 p.m.

Officials said two construction workers fell into the trench, about 15 feet down. One of the workers was able to escape and tried to help the second man but was unable.

Officials said the second man was trapped inside the trench from his waist down and had dirt on his shoulders. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to rescue him.

He was then transported to the hospital with an injury to his leg. He is expected to be OK.
