12th Family Campout Welcomes Outdoor Enthusiasts!
The City of Round Rock’s Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to announce the 12th annual Family Campout, set to take place on Friday, September 15th, through Saturday, September 16th. This exciting event will be held at the picturesque Old Settlers Park, offering families a unique opportunity to connect with nature and create lasting memories.
Participants will have the chance to spend the night surrounded by the scenic beauty of Old Settlers Park. Upon arrival, families will pitch their tents around the captivating Lakeview Pavilion. The evening will be filled with delightful activities, including a delicious dinner, games, and an enchanting campfire where everyone can indulge in the classic treat of s’mores. Adding to the evening’s charm, a movie will be screened in the park, providing wholesome entertainment for all. As the night settles, families will have the extraordinary chance to slumber under the vast expanse of stars.
The excitement continues on the following morning as the sun begins to gently pour its warm hues over the campsite. Participants are invited to awaken with the sunrise and delight in a hearty breakfast to fuel their adventurous day ahead.
To foster a spirit of creativity and fun, there will be a highly anticipated tent decorating contest held on Friday evening. Families are encouraged to bring their most imaginative decorations to “spruce” up their tents. Prizes will be awarded to the top three tents that exhibit the most unique and outstanding decor, making this contest a highlight of the campout.
For those eager to join in this unforgettable experience, registration is essential and can be completed online at roundrockrecreation.com. Early registration is available at the cost of $10 per person, while registrations received after September 1st will be subject to an increased fee of $15. Upon registration, each participant will receive two delectable meals, including a delightful dinner on Friday evening and a mouthwatering pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday morning. A vegetarian option is also available upon early request. Additionally, participants will be treated to s’mores and each will receive a commemorative t-shirt, serving as a cherished memento of their time at the Family Campout.
In order to ensure a comfortable and safe camping experience, participants are responsible for providing their own camping equipment and setting up and taking down their tents. Essential items to pack include a tent, sleeping bags, a flashlight, and a reusable water bottle. Water coolers will be conveniently stationed throughout the park, offering a refreshing hydration source. To keep pesky insects at bay, insect repellent is strongly advised. Participants are welcome to bring snacks and drinks, with the exception of alcohol and glass containers. It is highly recommended to bring a chair or blanket to enhance the campfire and movie viewing experience.
While furry friends hold a special place in our hearts, pets are not permitted at the campout. Please take this into consideration when planning your participation. Furthermore, it is important to note that electricity and shower facilities will not be available. Personal campfires are strictly prohibited to ensure the safety of all attendees.
As with any outdoor event, weather conditions can be unpredictable. Consequently, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to modify, relocate, and, if necessary, cancel the special event. This is done in order to prioritize the well-being and safety of all participants. In the event of a cancellation, program credit may be provided to registered individuals, subject to the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Director. Participants will be promptly notified via email within one week after the scheduled event date.
